Banana Hemp Smoothie Bowl
When I first saw a post about a smoothie bowl, I really didn't know what all the fuss was about.
It's just a smoothie poured into a bowl and eaten with a spoon?! Big deal. Why would someone want to take more time to eat a smoothie when they can easily drink it?
What I didn't realize is that when you decrease the amount of liquid in a smoothie, you create this awesomely magical ice cream like experience.
And oh man, did this rock my 3 year olds world too! Plus, part of the smoothie bowl experience is dreaming up any and all kinds of toppings to add.
Granola, fresh fruit, roasted almond butter, chopped nuts, chia and hemp sprinkles. oh-my! The possibilities are endless!
Yup...you totally get the green light to eat ice cream with toppings for breakfast.
Banana Hemp Smoothie Bowl
Serves 1
Ingredients:
1 banana, peeled and frozen
1/4 avocado
1 tbsp nut butter
1 large handful kale
1 scoop vanilla plant-based protein
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1/2 cup non-dairy milk (I like unsweetened almond)
3-4 ice cubes
Toppings (optional, but fun!):
sliced bananas
hemp seeds
granola
coconut flakes
berries
Instructions:
Place all ingredients in a blender.
Process on high until all ingredients are blended. Since there is not as much milk in a smoothie bowl some blenders sometimes have difficulty getting started. If this happens, add a little more milk one tablespoon at a time until the blender can process easily.
Pour smoothie into a bowl and top with desired toppings.
Best if served immediately.
