Prosciutto-Wrapped Melon
With only 3 ingredients and no cooking required, say hello to your new favorite appetizer dish - Prosciutto-Wrapped Melon!
You’ll love the combo of flavors from the juicy ripe cantaloupe wrapped in salty prosciutto ham and then drizzled with a balsamic vinegar.
Feels decadent yet comes together in under 10 minutes making it perfect for a summer bbq or potluck!
Ingredients:
1 cantaloupe, peeled, deseeded, and cut into 1/2 inch spears
12 ounce package of sliced proscuitto
Barrel-aged balsamic vinegar or a balsamic glaze (see notes below)
Directions:
Wrap each piece of cantaloupe in a slice of prosciutto. Depending on how much cantaloupe I have and the size of the slices of prosciutto, I sometimes like to cut the piece of prosciutto in half vertically so I have more.
Drizzle with a high-quality balsamic vinegar and serve immediately. Can be made 1 day in advance.
NOTES:
I am a huge fan of buying a high quality barrel-aged balsamic vinegar because the result is sweet and smooth with a thickness to it that is similar to a dressing. My favorite local company that also ships out of state is Texas Hill Country Olive Company. They have all kinds of fun naturally-flavored balsamic vinegars like strawberry, lemon, fig, etc. You can also buy a balsamic glaze at most grocery stores, but note that this usually means they are packed with a lot more sugar.
